![]() ![]() I've tried choosingĮnglish/UK under custom dictionaries, but the default.dic remains inaccessible and the roaming dictionary continues to just show my name. When I click on "Custom dictionaries," I see default.dic, but I can't edit it or look at it. All the dic files I've found are either empty or just contain my own name. ![]() That is flagged in both languages: it's 'cause - short for because). However, when working in my subtitling software, I am currently using the American English Word dictionary. To answer Charles, question, when I key in the word I'm trying to delete, and click F1+Shift, it tells me it's using UK English. Thanks for any further ideas that anyone might have. Not sure if this is the number you mean, but here's what I see at the top of the "about" page. This word of mine is definitelyĪdded somewhere, since Word is suddenly ignoring it in my subtitle files, although it's a word that was always flagged in the past. ![]() So I added the word using the Word spellcheck interface, but while checking a file outside of Word itself. In the Custom Dictionaries dialog box, select any of the dictionaries and then click the New. I should mention that I didn't add the word in Word - I am using a subtitling program that uses Word spellcheck. In the Word Options dialog box, on the Proofing tab, under When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs, click the Custom Dictionaries.
